"What is worth doing, is worth doing well,” reads an inscription on an ancient small bowl displayed in the new Museum of Islamic Art in Qatar. When asked which piece in the collection was the most significant to him, the curator responded that it was this bowl. The statement spans all time, all regions and all activities of mankind; how uplifting to do even the simplest task well. This seems to be an appropriate proverb for our Society. With the very able assistance of our WDS staff, our members have excelled in many events this season....

Professional Training and Educational Opportunities for WDS Members
The goal of the Women’s Dermatologic Society Career Development Program is to provide WDS members opportunities to enhance their career development through participating in “hands-on” training or other educational activities. This program provides financial support for WDS members (of at least 3 years) to acquire specific skills to enhance professional development.

A record number of dermatologists belonging to the Women’s Dermatologic Society (WDS) have taken action to combat skin cancer by volunteering 3,500 hours of their time in 61 cities since 2004.
WDS reports that an unprecedented number of its 1,600 members volunteer to promote skin health awareness. This effort mirrors the national skin cancer screening initiative of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Hold a WDS Networking Reception in Your Area!
WDS is now offering the opportunity for its members to hold local networking receptions in their local areas. WDS will support these with a limited amount of funding which will be determined by the Networking Committee.
Plan a reception for fun, griping, and sharing with your fellow WDS members and prospective members. This is a first come, first serve. Funds are limited so ACT NOW!

A new feature at the Women's Dermatologic Society website is our "Find A Dermatologist" online search. The WDS has dermatologists across the United States to serve you and now they can be easily found. Just enter your zip code and search radius (in miles) into our "Find A Dermatologist" search and you will be provided a list of WDS-Member Dermatologists complete with distance, location and phone number. Most WDS Dermatologists even have available a map with directions to their location.

The mission of the Women’s Dermatologic Society is to help women in dermatology realize and fulfill their greatest potential by striving to:
- Foster, promote and support women’s issues in dermatology;
- Identify, train, and recognize women leaders in dermatology;
